About Biffpack
Biffa Waste Services invite you to join Biffpack - the leading waste management industry based Compliance Scheme.
The Producer Responsibility Obligation (Packaging Waste) (Amendment) Regulations 2008 set targets for British industry for the recovery and recycling of packaging waste. Under the regulations, companies above thresholds for both turnover and the amount of packaging handled have the option of following the individual route and attempting to meet these targets themselves or of passing their obligations over to a Compliance Scheme.
Biffa, one the UK's leading waste management companies established such a Compliance Scheme in June 1997 - Biffpack. Since then, the membership of Biffpack has grown to include the full range of British industry - from small firms with £2 million turnover to multi-billion transnational conglomerates.
Membership of Biffpack is open to any business in any packaging sector obliged to comply with the Regulations, whether a Biffa customer or not. Biffpack is registered to ISO 9001:2008 and operates a full, comprehensive and cost effective Compliance service for its members providing timely, open and accessible information on all aspects of the Regulations.
Biffpack prides itself on its levels of customer service, providing its members with unrivalled support and expertise. It also enjoys an excellent relationship and reputation with relevant government departments.
Biffpack operates on the basis that it will meet the aggregated obligations of its members by obtaining Packaging Recovery Notes (PRNs) generated through the recovery and recycling of packaging waste. The cost of acquiring PRNs will be charged back to members quarterly according to each member's obligation.
Biffpack will provide members with regular information on the development of the scheme and the Packaging Waste Regulations through Bulletins, Newsletters, the website and e-mail.
Advisory Group
Biffpack operates an Advisory Group, allowing members a non-executive role in the development and management of the scheme. The Group meets quarterly, usually at a site of interest to those obligated companies, such as reprocessor of packaging material.
